  • Mercury Cafe 2199 California Street Denver, CO, 80205 United States (map)

Friends!
Come blast off into the brilliant future of 2018 with a TWO NIGHT CELEBRATION at the Mercury Cafe. We'll be kicking things off on December 30th with our pals in/PLANES and Bluebook. The cafe will transform into an underwater/outerspace wonderland and there will be surreal surprises around every corner.
Weird-formal attire encouraged!

Chimney Choir
Chimney Choir combines folk harmonies, ambient electronics, and swirling textures of rhythm and melody into a style of music that is not easy to define. Their performances often take on a theatrical quality, incorporating puppetry, ritual, dance, storytelling, circus arts, interactive video and even a sci-fi mini-drama. Their recent projects include a full-length ballet with contemporary company Wonderbound (Boomtown, 2015), a collaboration with Colorado Symphony (Mayhem, 2016), and the Colorado Creative Industries' Detour program, bringing the arts to rural Colorado communities. Their new album, (dream), is an experimental electronic and acoustic music collage which was released in late 2016 in an immersive concept show at the Mercury Cafe. Chimney Choir has toured the country extensively, and in 2016 were voted “Best Folk Act” by Denver Westword. Currently, the band is composing a new full-length ballet for Wonderbound's spring ballet, which premiers in February 2018.

in/Planes
A Vintage Pop duo consisting of musical soulmates, Desirae Garcia (Bass/Vocals) and Inaiah Lujan (Guitar/Vocals), founders and core members of popular Folk/Americana group The Haunted Windchimes. in/PLANES offers a different take and spin on American music, exploring classic pop sounds — notably 1950’s & 60’s R&B, Doo-Wop and Soul to create a vibey, sparse and entrancing sound.

“Magical Duo”
— 303 MAGAZINE

“Charmingly exploring tunes that would have sounded right at home on tour with Buddy Holly.”
— HEATHER BROWNE (FUEL/FRIENDS)

Bluebook
Bluebook is Julie Davis and Jess Parsons' haunting analog-electro project, offering new songs and old, from each of Davis' former projects—Bela Karoli, Fairchildren, and The Seven Hats. NPR described Davis’ music as offering, “beautifully structured dynamics and captivating sonic twists," and The Denver Post Reverb says Davis “gives haunting, holy voice to some of the darkest spots of imagination.”
